“Stay Away From”
Joshua 7:19-25
Today, I want to teach you something that you must stay away from in the midst of embracing your own Promised Land experience.
In Joshua chapter 7 verses 19-21, Achan let the wrong thing get a hold of him in the midst of them possessing their promised land. He began to covet what did not belong to him.
Covet – to desire wrongfully or without due regard to others; to desire another person’s property; to lust after what belongs to somebody else.
A spirit of greed got a hold of him, and because of this, he took what did not belong to him.
Let’s look at whose stuff he took. In Joshua 6:16-19, it shows that he took what belonged to the Lord. Remember, always give the Lord what is due to Him: Your time, talent and tithes.
- Give the Lord the time that is due to Him. (Haggai 1:2-9)
- Our talents belong to Him (I Peter 4:10 &11) this is not the time for you to sit down on your gift, or get too busy to render your gift.
- Tithes belong to Him. (Deuteronomy 26:1&2, 8-12) (Malachi 3:10) (Matthew 23:23)
Remember, don’t allow the wrong thing to get a hold of you in the midst of your promised land experience.
