“The Year of the Higher Calling”
Philippians 3:13-16
It is time for you to get to that elevated place in your life, the place where God always intended for you to be.
Paul said, “I press toward the mark of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” So, you need to be in Christ, to get to this higher calling.
Joseph was ruler over Egypt. Esther was Queen. Abraham was the Father of many nations.
Now, in order for you to fully embrace this season of the Higher Calling, you have to learn how to do three things. Forget about your past. Live in the moment. And, plan for the future.
There are three stages in life: Past, Present and Future. You have to know how to handle each one of them.
Paul addresses each one of them in Philippians 3:13-15.
- You must forget about your past. Forget your past mistakes or failures. You cannot continue to relive what happened in your past. Learn from it, and move on, because there is nothing you can change about your past.
The children of Israel could never forget about their past. (Exodus 14:12) What the Lord is doing in your life right now, is greater than anything that has happened in your past.
- You must live in the moment. In verse 13, Paul says, “Reaching forth to those things which are before.” What is in your present. This speaks to living in the moment. If you don’t, you will let this moment pass you by without fully embracing it. You have to learn how to embrace all that the Lord is doing in your life right now.
Some people cannot fully embrace their present state, because they are still stuck in their past.
- You must plan for the future. If you do not plan for the future you will not be ready when that time comes. (verse 14)
Plan – a detailed proposal for doing or achieving something.
Make the right steps or investments now, so your future can be intact when it comes. Make the right decisions now, so it will be well in the future. (Jeremiah 29:11)
Forget about your past, Live in the moment and Plan for your future.
