“The Blessing of Instruction”

Proverbs 5:12&13

Instruction is intended to be a blessing in our lives.

Instruction – a form of educating you; the importance of knowledge; to give direction to; the teaching of different lessons.

Knowledge, direction, experience, training and development come through instruction.

If all of this is a result of instruction, why is instruction looked at so negatively? Something about human nature that doesn’t want to be told anything.

Proverbs 5:12-13 says, “How have I hated instruction and my heart despised reproof. And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me.”

How you look at instruction determines whether you will be blessed from it.

You can look at it in a positive or negative way.

Instruction is valuable to your life.

Listening to instruction prevents us from making a lot of mistakes in life. Value the ones that the Lord has put in your life to give you instruction.

Proverbs 8:33 says, “Hear instruction and be wise and refuse it not.” Instruction brings wisdom.

Proverbs 13:18 says, “Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: But he that regardeth reproof shall be honored.”

This is the blessing of instruction.
